Azure VMware Solution

Azure VMware Solution (AVS) is still in private preview actually but now we have now HCX integrated inside the solution which is great. If you know VMware on AWS and compare it to AVS preview you will notice some slight differences on the networking side.

At this moment HCX on AVS is only supported with Azure dedicated network link Azure Expressroute (if you want some SLA).
Networking on VMC is very automated when building up the SDDC, inside Azure it is the opposite. This means that you have more work to build your SDDC but you can also customize it more. May be inside the final version this will have change.

Both solution are using NSX-T and a gateway to make the link to the on premise / internet services. Inside Azure you have to install a vwan azure service before starting to install AVS then you can start to build the  VMware SDDC and interconnect it with you NSX-T

Actually to do that you are going to need a Windows VM to manage and access NSX-T and Vcenter inside Azure (i wish it won't be necessary with the final version)

If you are looking for an ENI connection with AWS services, no equivalent at this moment. It may come inside a later release.

If you want to setup a Microsoft Azure VMware Solution, you should take the Hub and spoke approach.
